Sharone Hadassah

Keepers of the Gate

On October 22, about 30 members of Sharone met at the home of Len and Jane Jacobson to hear Dr Dan Engelhard from Hadassah Hospital and to learn about the Keepers of the Gate Program. Keepers is Hadassahs only annual giving commitment. A Traditional Keeper commits to giving $1,000 a year for as long as she is are able. For this a Keeper will receive a very beautiful pin in the shape of a David's harp and feel the power of making a difference.

Dr Dan Engelhard from Hadassah Hospital spoke about the groundbreaking work being done at the hospital in Pediatrics, he then went on to tell us about his volunteer work in Ethiopia, the room was silent as we watched the presentation of slide after slide of children in desperate need of care. It was heartbreaking to see the children suffering but heartwarming to hear his story of what a few good doctors can do to help. Our members asked some wonderful questions after. He was truly inspirational.

That evening two new Keepers were to get their pins Bernice Gaon and Diane Rauchwerger. Then two new members stepped up to make the commitment, Anne Sorger and Nurit Jacobs. It was a beautiful evening.

Please Join Our Special Action-Oriented Philanthropists

"Keepers of the Gate," is a special group of action-oriented philanthropists who make annual donations to support Hadassah's work. Comprised of men and women — leaders and visionaries from around America — "Keepers" help change people's lives year after year…after year. We now have 21 Keepers of the Gate in our chapter. Who will be the next one? Or, the "Double Chai" member... the 36th? Might it be you?

Please consider joining the ranks of the 4000 Keepers of the Gate who have chosen to annually support a variety of Hadassah projects. A Keeper of the Gate makes a special promise of $1,000 annually to Hadassah for as long as she can.

There are many options you can choose that make payment easy. You are rewarded with a beautiful pin, your name is listed in the annual publication which is distributed nationally, and after 5 years of your ongoing gift, your name is engraved on the Keepers of the Gate wall at the Hadassah Medical Center at Ein Kerem.

Please consider supporting Hadassah's important mission as a Keeper of the Gate. More information will be in the bulletin, and Marilyn Sefchovich and Corinne Sherman have all the information you need.

Joining our annual giving program is easy. Start by choosing from the following annual giving levels: $1,000, $1,800, $2,500, $3,600 or more.

You can pay your annual pledge by charge card in monthly, quarterly, or semiannual installments.

On your fifth anniversary as a Keeper, your name will be engraved on the magnificent Keepers of the Gate Wall at Kiryat Hadassah in Ein Kerem, Israel.

New: Men can now become Associate Keepers of the Gate. They have their very own pin which is a replica of the women's pin but lapel size.

Golden Keepers: A New Leadership Giving Program

A Golden Keeper makes an annual commitment of $5,000 for as long as they are able. Like other Keepers gifts, this significant contribution is designated to any Hadassah project of choice.

Golden Keepers have the flexibility to divide their gift among different projects and change the designation each year.

Golden Keepers may take advantage of the automatic monthly credit card deduction payout option.

The donor's name will be sent to Israel to be placed on the prestigious Keepers Wall with special recognition of her status as a “Golden Keeper."
