Membership Brunch Entertains and Educates
Dr. Ed Emanuel Talks about Famous Jewish Immigrants
On September 18, 2011, a sunny Sunday morning, a capacity crowd were welcomed by Barbara and Ahron Bogomilsky at their home in Los Altos Hills for a Sharone Hadassah membership brunch to honor new Life Members and Associates.
Highlighting the morning's activities was an enjoyable talk by Dr. Ed Emanuel, professor at Fresno State, author, and lecturer, who spok about "Jews on the Move: Tales of Famous Jewish Immigrants." With humor and insight, Dr. Emanuel told little known stories about renowned scientists, musicians, authors and other leaders who had significant impact on American life through the ages. Dr. Emanuel was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in Drama by the World Journal Newspaper. He received a TV Emmy nomination for his play, Conquest of my Brother, produced by PBS and a Gold Medal of Performance of Excellence awarded by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. His presentation was entitled "Jews on the Move" - Tales of Famous Jewish Immigrants. Dr. Emanuel kept us entertained and informed about Jews who came to this country with nothing and achieved greatness in the fields of medicine, entertainment, and business.
Forty-five people attended, and we gained a number of new Life Members and new Associates at this succesful event. Enjoy some photos of that event, taken by Associate Mark Emanuel.
